Printing a pencil sketch onto canvas

Transform a sketch into a piece of artwork

Lee-Anne Wann contacted me as she needed a sketch of a bach printing onto canvas. This was achieved quite simply with Lee-Anne scanning the sketch to create a jpeg file of the image. I then printed the image straight onto canvas and framed it ready for the next step.

The next step was a really cool idea I thought and a unique gift. Lee-Anne was then going to get an artist to use this canvas as a template so they could paint onto the canvas. The end result a painting which would be given to a relative as a special birthday gift.

When I had printed the canvas I left the canvas in its natural state rather than adding the liquid laminate normally used on my photo prints. This was necessary so that it wouldn’t interfere with any oil or acrylic medium used to add colour to the sketch.

As I was going to be popping into Auckland I delivered the print myself so Lee-Anne got the print before the weekend. In case you were wondering if are thinking the name Lee-Anne rings a bell you would be right. Lee-Anne works as the Personal Trainer and Presenter for ‘Downsize Me’ - The New Zealand Health & Fitness Television series so she is my first ‘famous customer’ ☺ I also got to see Lee-Anne’s studio which is great this is the website if you want to check it out http://www.bodyofyours.com

Here is what Lee-Anne thought of her print:

Hi Tracey,

Thanks so much for the canvas – it is perfect and thanks ever so much for delivering and giving me the discount as I am sure you know it had expired.

I really appreciate your help and professional level of service!!!

Thanks again

Lee-Anne
