Why should I use My Canvas?
I personally print, inspect and frame each image myself and as I’m a bit of a perfectionist you can be sure your print will be of the highest quality. As it’s my own business I believe in going that extra mile for customers to always make sure you are happy. I want you to come back and tell all your friends about My Canvas! What are stretched canvas prints?
A stretched print is where the canvas print is tightly stretched over a wooden framework. There are a couple of ways we can wrap your canvas onto the frame. The most popular way is a ‘gallery wrapped’ print where part of your photo ‘wraps’ around the side of the frame. For smaller sized prints or photos that have detail close to the edge of the frame, we can wrap a border around the frame in a colour of your choice. This enables all of your photo to be on the front of the print without losing any of the main detail around the side. Don’t worry if you are not sure which is the best option for your photo we can help you.
What materials do you use to make my print?
We did lots of research to make sure we were using the best materials for our prints. Spending hours surfing the net, visiting suppliers and comparing samples to make sure we got it right from the start. We wanted to make sure that our prints not only looked great but would last a lifetime too.
We use a Canon wide format printer with the latest digital technology to print your canvas. Using genuine Canon Pigment inks that are formulated with UV protection to avoid fading. We could use third party inks which are much cheaper but our focus is on quality so we will only use genuine Canon inks in our printer.
We have invested a lot of time into finding the best canvas. We use Breathing Color canvas which is a photographic fine art polyester/cotton mixture. This canvas is manufactured in the USA and has a nice bright white appearance, which when combined with our inks, makes the colours in your print really vibrant.
This canvas is much more expensive than its pure cotton counterparts but we believe it is by far the best in the market. Why? Well on comparison we found the pure cotton canvas to have lots of surface imperfections where as Breathing Color has a lovely smooth even texture which is consistent on every roll and gives your print that expensive looking finish. We finish your canvas with Glamour II Veneer to protect, preserve and enhance your print. This is a water based sealant which gives your photo that extra ‘pop’ when combined with out pigment inks.
How long will my print last?
We would expect your print to last for at least fifty years. Like any artwork avoid displaying it in direct sunlight or exposing it to moisture. If it doesn’t last that long or you print fades we would be happy to re print it for free.
How should I care for my print?
Clean with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. NEVER use water or any kind of solvent based cleaner to clean your canvas.
Do you do other sizes?
Yes if you do not see the size you are looking for on the website contact us and we are happy to try and accommodate custom sizes.
Will the colours I see on screen be the same as the finished canvas?
We use the latest technology so our aim is to match the colour as closely as possible to the original photograph. However there may be some variation. For instance you may have noticed that when you look at a picture on your pc at home, then look at it on your work computer, it looks a little different. This is due to the lack of, or different calibration, between the monitors. The most important thing is that what we see on our monitor is what we print so we will make sure it looks right before we print.
What if my photo isn’t in digital format?
No problem you can either send the photo to us in the post or scan and email the image to us. If you do post your photo we promise to take care of it and return to you at the same time as your canvas. If you are scanning your photo in please scan it at 300 dpi minimum then you can email the scanned image to us.
What size of photo do you need from me and what about resolution etc?
Photos are best emailed or sent to us on a disk in JPEG or TIFF format in the highest resolution possible, the bigger the better. If you are using a digital camera, take your photographs at the highest resolution possible. The larger the mega pixel rating on the camera the larger your images can be. Most digital cameras these days produce good quality images which are suitable for printing on canvas. If you are not sure we are happy to help.
Can you make changes to my photo, such as red eye?
We can crop or enlarge photos and are happy to make minor adjustments to your photo such as red eye removal if required. We can also change your colour photos into sepia or monochrome. This is all part of the service. For any more advanced photo editing please contact us.
How long will it take for my canvas to arrive?
Once we receive the image from you it usually takes up to 10 working days for the order to be delivered to you. If you need your canvas in a rush please contact us to see what we can do to help. Deliveries can arrive at any time between 9am – 5.30pm local time, so if you are not in during the day it may be easier to arrange the delivery to be made to your work address if appropriate.
Can I place an order and have it delivered somewhere else?
Yes just let us know when you order that you require the canvas to be shipped somewhere else.
How do I use my gift voucher?
Easy just let us know when you place an order that you have a gift voucher. We will simply need your details or the person who bought it for you to confirm the value of your voucher.
How do I pay for my print?
We have a number of options. Once your order is confirmed, we will email you an invoice with our payment details on.
(internet or phone banking) This is the most popular method preferred by our customers and is our preference. We provide our bank details and a reference you can use on your invoice.
We can accept cheques, payable to My Canvas Ltd and posted to the address details on the invoice.
We can accept credit cards through Paypal which is a great way of making a secure payment online.
Do you supply to trade?
Yes we often have enquiries from corporate clients please contact us with details of what you are looking for.
What is the policy on returned items?
If for any reason you're not completely satisfied with the quality of your print or it gets damaged in transit will gladly re print it for you. You must notify us within 24 hours of it arriving to let us know if there is any damage. We will re print it immediately if you send us some proof like a photo of the damage or return it to us for a replacement.
We want you to be happy so if you are not happy with the quality for any reason, send it back to us and we will do everything in our power to make it right.
What’s this about copyright?
When you send us a photo to print, you must ensure that you are the person that owns the copyright on the photo, or that you have permission from the person who took the photo to reproduce it. If a photographer took the photos for you it is important that you check with them that they are happy for you to use the photo. Many photographers retain copyright over their pictures. We may ask you to verify the copyright on a photo so please don’t be offended if we do. Just a tip if you are thinking of having your wedding photos printed onto canvas it would be worthwhile asking the question upfront when you book your photographer. That way you can negotiate this as part of your package rather than after the event. Please do all this before going ahead with your order with My Canvas.
We will not do anything with your photo other than print it for you. We will never use or sell your photographs without your express permission. However we do from time to time ask if you would be happy for us to use a photograph of your finished canvas as an example of our work on our website. We do also store your files for future reprints if you come back to us in the future for another copy of your print, but we can delete them if required just let us know what you would prefer.
